Shock As School Girls Use Feathers As Sanitary Towels

There has been interesting buzz over the Citizen TV feature from last evenings news. If you didn’t see it, fret not you can watch it here basically was “Shock as Kenyan School girls use feathers as sanitary towels”

This was based on girls in West Pokot, a very marginalised locality moving towards the North West part of Kenya. The issue of girls lacking sanitary towels in Kenya is not new. Whats new is that more people now know and more people can now take action. Its not enough to be all shocked and talk and talk about it if you as an individual are doing nothing about it. Girls need sanitary towels, many cannot afford them and that is the reality.

Solutions to problems Kenyan face lies with Kenyans – not donors, not the IMF, not the World Bank. A packet of sanitary towels costs 40sh that’s about ($0.50) so do something. If you want to do something but don’t know what to do, drop a line.

Love to all! #girlsmatter

I would be glad to be buying a packet of pads to a girl each month. How do it get to you? this is really touching & we need to do sth small that we can for now.

  2. Life is the strangest thing i have ever known of. You never know what the future holds….a girl lacking sanitary towels ain’t an issue to ignore, i know most of us are like let the government or sb else do sth. What abt u ? Don’t u think one day it will be you … For this country to change it has to start with you nd me, don’t wait for sb else. For once let’s be mature enough and think!! socio-paths, psychopaths and sycophants are not be allowed at our table of governance..seriously, taxing pads? i am speechless…..
