It’s fantastic that the government stepped up, donated and engaged in sanitary towel distribution to some schools in Kenya. The need is so vast across the country, that every time we read an article on this we feel all the more inspired. We came across this article which we thought of sharing, give it a read: Sanitary towels for Teso girls
Where in heavens name is Teso? Not many Kenyans know where Teso is located. I must admit I had no idea where it was. Its very remote, very dry, and very marginalized.
Many initiatives are now getting involved in sanitary towel distributions in Kenya. It’s great because the reality is when girls miss school due to no sanitary towels, well it’s simply depressing. The government has stepped in but that means other organizations as well as Path to Womanhood must also step up with sanitary towel distributions in Kenya.
This is an excerpt from the allafrica.com article:
“Recently, Prime Minister Raila Odinga directed Education ministry to seek sh2.6million in the next financial year to buy sanitary towels for all school girls countrywide. Wekesa said while the gesture by the PM was timely, she expressed concerns over the slow manner in which the government was handling the issue.”
