How it went down 2nd August Panties with purpose!

2nd August we were able to make our donation to Magoso School. Masogo stands for Mashimoni Good Samaritan School for Orphans. It was started in 1999, and has 379 pupils both boys and girls. 53% of these are girls ranging from 21/2 to 17 years. Adolescent girls are approximately 200.

I was surprised to learn that the school supports orphans who also are provided accommodation but do not pay fees. The needy kids pay about 100shs per month and the more able ones pay 500shs per month.

The school was soo deep in the heart of Kibera that I must admit I had never reached that far but all in all it was a good experience. The school has a feeding program which keeps kids in school. Additionally they run a sewing program where they make all manner of things-dresses, bags, shoes – I guess this is how they are able to keep the orphans in school.

In total we donated close to 400 packets of sanitary towels. Many thanks to Leonard Ithau and Elizabeth Muasya without who we would not have been able to raise that much.

The collaboration with Panties with purpose was so ideal for the day, and each of the girls left with 2 pairs of panties!!!!! Thank you Farah and maridadi.co.ke for the partnership.
