This month has been interesting, we are looking to get started on training for making reusable sanitary towels. There are many reasons for this, and initially we had thought that reusable sanitary towels were not ideal. But the fact is they are used by many girls in various regions of Kenya and they help during that time of the month.
Reuseables are made of cotton fabric, used for some hours and washed. Ideally a girl would use 2/3 per day depending on her menses and also for hygiene factors.
The two projects we are looking to get involved with are located in Lewa and in Kakamega respectively. In both these areas there is easy access to water. We are still in the planning process and still identifying a trainer as well, which has not been easy and has still not been firmed up. A project like this would also enable some sustainability in that sewing machines would also be used to make other items that can be sold and has the potential to grow to become as big as possible.
As we prepare to go on this long journey, pray for us and for the success of the work we are trying to do.

this is great work that you are venturing into we we can assist you in the training of the women in making the re-useable sanitary towels. nothing compares to a smile of a girl who is confident and assured of her health(sanitation) during this time of menses which she has to go through every month
Thank you so much for your comment….would be good to hear from you on the details of training possibilities…
