This day will mark a very special outreach. One that both me and Koki pray for complete and utter guidance on. It stemed from a meeting we had between the two of us, where she made me realise just how important it is that we get a Doctor for our next outreach. Its now not going to be just about sanitary pads anymore. We’ve discovered the need for these girls to have information and answers on sex and reproductive health. We’ll be having the nerve wracking discussions that simply bring discomfort to any normal person.
I think its an issue many of us who have access to information and doctors take for granted. 100’s of school going girls are having unprotected sex with men and at times boys their own age some as young as those in Primary school. Some have sex for money, for pads, some are raped and molested while some do it for fun. They know no better and they feel it is a stage they have to go through in life, afterall no one has told them otherwise and no one has done any different where they come from. Reproductive health problems stem from simple issues that could have been resolved ages ago. Yeast infections and STDs are what they need to know about. Some of these issues even WE had no clue about.
