If you have been following our blog here or our facebook group page then you know we have been busy welcoming Kathleen of One for you, One for her who has been in the country for a few days. It has been exciting, busy but most of all eye opening in the work we have managed to achieve this week. One for you, One for her is the first international partner we have chosen to work with closely, and they were responsible for the $1,000 support we gave to St. Elizabeth, Mukuru in terms of sanitary towels last year.

Our first visitwas to Olobeilbel School in Kajiado and to one homestead in Kajiado on 24th January. Olobeilbel was about one and a half hourse interior after Kajiado town. It was overwhelming, the community still very much practicing FGM. Girls undergo this as young as 13 years old after which they are married off. Its shocking they can be married off to even a 70 year old man, a practice that surely needs to end! Our mission was panties and sanitary towels. The girls in the school were very happy to have us, we also visited a homestead that welcomed us with open arms. The remoteness was unbelievable. This is their lifestyle, their culture, and it is what they know. Handing one of these ladies panties was simply humbling, restoring that dignity we need to spread that even more. We were able to mobilise 300 packets of sanitary towels to a group of about 100 girls.

The second visit on 25th January was to Children of Africa Hope Mission School located in Dagoretti, Ngando slum area. It was a nice sweet small visit. The school caters for about 250 orphans and relies completely on support from well-wishers; they don’t have a specific donor supporting them full time. Another dire situation, however we smile because deep down its not about how much we have its about giving them some hope for good things to come in their lives. If you are interested in sponspring an orphan and committing monthly a sum towards their feeding program please let us know. The Director has so much hope for the school even the debt she owes for the supplier of the food doesn’t worry her. Strongly uplifting this school in prayer. We were able to provide 96 packets of sanitary towels needed by about 15 girls.

The third was a visit to Kibera where we had a sex and abortion forum on 26th Jan. The highlight of this day was to shockingly learn that methods used to carry out an abortion are herbs, JIK/bleach and Omo. Each girl went home with a 5month supply of sanitary towels to 51 girls.

This would not have been possible without support from Panties with purpose who continues to supply panties to us! Without the panties the sanitary towels become very irrelevant.
