The outreach this past Saturday was exciting. Many partners, friends, volunteers came forward to assist and contribute, some new and others old together convened at the Salvation Army grounds in Kibera. The day was sponsored by CARE who gave us a venue and PA system. PTW managed to raise approximately 755 packets of sanitary pads. These were distributed amongst the 380 students.
This time round we had with us a group from Zanaa Africa, and Zetech College, they too got involved in the discussions of the day.

We were able to discuss suicide, which has lately been happening quite a bit in the area, with girls and boys who fail final examinations take their lives. For a number of reasons, many girls spoke up openly and gave different scenarios, pressures and experiences that could lead others to take their lives. Just a day before the outreach in the newspapers was news of an Alliance Gilrs High school student who threw herself into a borehole and she lost her life.
Tragic as the tipic of conversation was we were able to talk about how life is precious, and how we all as individuals have a purpose for our lives.
The day ended on a high note with short motivational life stories from Wahu, Pilipili and Frnech boy who made an appearance courtesy of CARE Kenya and gave some motivational talks as well.
