It’s always exciting getting into new partnerships, more so for us when it involves efforts of menstrual health management. We received an email from Shalom Women’s Empowerment Centre in Narok looking to have a training done for making reuseables sanitary towels. They currently have a sewing program in place, which is the basic minimum for the training to be done. As we previously also did the training for Lewa Foundation we are more than excited to be able to make this happen for Shalom Women’s Empowerment Centre in Narok.
Many in developed countries can’t imagine how inconvenient, uncomfortable and embarrassing it must be for women and girls not to have access to even the most basic of facilities to manage their menstruation, or how confusing menstruation is for girls who have no information on this natural process.
Together with our awesome partners Hope for Teenage Mothers, we will be making this happen for the women in Narok, where making sanitary towels accessible to girls in Narok will be the main mission #girlsmatter #makingithappen
I am Mary working in Kirinyaga county giving skills to young mother with an aim to empowering them financially. However, I am moved by young girls in our community who are not able to access sanitary towels. I therefore, would like to learn the skill and distribute the reusable towels to our schools. I would later be able to pass the skill on to the young mothers to build capacities. Help me learn the skill.
