Its 2 months into 2016 and there seems to be many developments happening, some of which i am happy to share.
In the last post we mentioned the dream of putting up a library in Olebelibel. The most amazing thing happened the minute we began to share this dream with all our friends and partners.
We received a donation of about 3,000 books from a long time partner and supporter, Farah Ahmed who wanted to see her late fathers book collection go to a great cause. Farah has always supported us especially with panties through her program Panties with a Purpose. Half our task has already been done now that we have a book collection to start it off. The goal is a a simple building structure, for the village, books full of information, stories, tales, school material, games, comics, and much more.
A second amazing thing happened on our last trip to Kajiado county, we were updated that the community has allocated us a piece of land to get going with the project, the drawings had been made up already by the Public Works copies of which we have AND the community gave us a financial pledge since they want to support our dream which has since become their dream.
Olebelibel is the most remote part that i have personally ever been to in Kenya. Its off the grid completely in a way that makes us wonder if the rest of the country knows they exist.
Isn’t it amazing how doors open the moment you start speaking out your goals? Writing this post has made me realize that the project i thought would be over whelming is slowly coming to work itself out, we have been blessed thus far.
We are looking to find partners who may be looking to support our great cause as we continue to push through our Education of the girl child in Olebelibel. Soon, we will need to ground break, to get some furniture fixtures, shelves, additional childrens books and we will need all the help we can get. Feel like plugging in to connect with us?
