The initial target for the Sanitary pads outreach on 10th Sept, was to raise 1,050 packets. We made it to approximately 550, which is more or less just above 50% mark. The first outreach you will remember we only had 354 packets which was fabulous, and reached close to 170 girls. This time we reached approx 500 girls.
It was great to see so many friends join in for the initiative this time round, and many thanks to all their help with hauling boxes and organising distribution. Thanks to my pals, Koki, Ciku, Sue, Trizah, Maureen, Lynda, Beatrice and Catherine! You are seriously Path to Womanhood champoins, not sure how i would have managed without you girls!
The number of girls at the outreach were just under 500, we had about one box of sanitary pads which remained. An additional partner for the day was able to also give panties to the girls, many left with one panty and one packet of sanitary pads, yeii!
I sincerely look forward to many more of thse outreaches. Even when you don’t feel like much has been done, alot has been done. At least 500 girls in Kenya will not go with sanitary pads for the next month and perhaps next time we can make much more of an effort and impact, this is a challenge we can easily conquer.
I feel inspired, touched and i feel that we have too much more to get done.
